We are happy to announce that we’ve joined Prana’s Responsible Packaging Movement and are committing to eliminate single-use plastic and virgin forest fiber from our packaging, as well as excess packaging waste in our supply chain.⠀We can’t do this alone and we immediately loved the idea of creating a worldwide community around this goal, in which companies of all scales can participate and share their experience: it’s only together and with the contribution of everyone that we can foster a radical change industry wide. ⠀

As we are trying to eliminate plastics from our snowboards it seems obvious to do the same regarding the packaging. By producing directly our boards we can avoid the classic plastic film and we have developed different solutions. Even if we are quite happy with this set-up we have planned further goals for season 2022/23, when we will no longer use plastics and its derivates, but only natural fabrics and compostable or 100% certified cellulose materials.⠀Our current packaging consists of and will be made of:

  • an illustrative band placed around the board and fixed with a sticker, from a FSC mix certified supplier > will be replaced by 100% FSC certified or recycled paper
  • a reusable bag, inspired by the surf-socks, made of woven-non-woven textile and a cotton string for the closure, manufactured in the company next to ours > will be replaced by 100% natural or recycled fibre
  • our ‘beauty care treatment kit’ for the wooden surface, which consists of a can with a plastic cap and a flax bag > will be replaced by 100% recycled or compostable materials
  • the shipping box, made of partly recycled cardboard without prints and closed with a scotch in kraft paper and adhesive mass in natural rubber > will be replaced by 100% certified or recycled paper based product⠀

We can all contribute to #ReshapePackaging! We’re asking you all and the fellow brands to join us in adopting goals to eliminate excess packaging waste in a responsible, long-lasting way.  Even if you’re not a brand you can be part of the Responsible Packaging Movement, by committing to eliminate or reduce single-use plastic packaging, virgin forest fiber packaging, and excess packaging waste from your everyday life. Create your own goals, share your commitments and document your progress: big goals need a lot of helping hands, support, tools and a community to help you reach them. So let’s inspire and support each other, wherever we may be in our individual journeys!
